I Love Yahoo! Japan Auctions

You know... I LOVE the Yahoo Japan Auctions. You can get a lot of really great stuff there.

I wanted a new thermometer for one of the rooms because I like to have thermometers all over the place (I'm a weather whore, so sue me!). Well, I did a search and I ended up finding this great clock/thermometer/hygrometer!

The bidding started at JPY 1 (about one penny), and when I came in to the bidding, it had gone up to about JPY 210 (about $2.00). I put in a maximum bid of JPY 824 (one of the secrets of bidding is to put in weird numbers so people give up when they are trying to compete), and I ended up getting it tonight at midnight for JPY 510 (about $4.50 at the current exchange rate). Sure it will cost me about $7.50 for shipping and a small COD fee, but it is well worth it considering the store wanted about JPY 3800 for it (about $35.00).

That's why I'm still up.... I couldn't wait until tomorrow to see if I won the bid or not.

I'm really looking forward to getting it! (simple things amuse simple minds... "it's just a damn aluminum boring clock, Cam... come on!" heeeeee)

Since it was a store that I bought this from on auction, they will be sending me a form that I will fill out, and send back tomorrow. I imagine I'll see my clock by the weekend.

If there is anything that you guys ever want me to look for and get on auction for you, please let me do it for you. If you will give me a small service fee and cover the payment charges, etc. I am more than happy to do that and then ship it off to you! Just let me know, and we can work together on finding something that you really want, and that fits into your price point. (I helped Dunnster get a Harley Davidson, so we can get pretty much anything). Yahoo! Japan Auctions is apparently so good, and used by so many Japanese (there are a lot of Japanese in Japan....), that E-Bay could never get a toehold here. But that's OK by me.

Have a great day, and I'm off to bed now!

I love you!

Cam

    hee...

    Oooo.. that reminds me...
I bought a similar thing for my cutlery drawer to keep the little bins from sliding around in there.

Another project... so many ideas.... so little time... *good sigh*

  10. I like good sighs. They often come after good "dot dot dots".

    ReplyDelete
  11. dot 1 = coffee
    dot 2 = bacon
    dot 3 = shoveling snow.

That's what I meant, and I'm glad you concur.

(and I'll tell you about the other "dot dot dots" later, baby! *wink wink*)

  12. Yeah... that's it... that's what i meant too...

    Why?
What did you THINK i meant?

    Heee...

  13. Sorry. I thought you were referring to dots 4, 5, and 6. Those have absolutely NOTHING to do with anything politically correct. *ahem*

  14. WAIT TILL YOU TRY 7, 8 AND 9
    THEM DOTS ROCK!

  15. i am looking for 9-10' bamboo poles, Cam. i need them for my new heirloom bean beds. we're talking about 90 of them. i could use cedar from here and cost will run about $190US, but i really wanted the bamboo.

i am looking for a better price on the 2008 Swarovski Ornament...the large one. best price i can get here is $50us w/ shipping.

don't beat your head against a wall, just curious :) and i like your clock...i covered my el-cheapo in leather, stones and topaz beads and it is a Celeste original now. get out the glue gun and pelts, baby!!!

  16. Oooh! I like that clock!

They sell bamboo in the home centers you know. for gardening. The poles. Let me go and look into what 90-100 would cost and roughly what the weight of a package would be. Interesting...

What is the 2008 Swarovski Ornament? If I type that in, will it come up? Is there only one?

  17. Hi Mou,
I think Celeste is referring to the christmas ornaments made by the Swarovski company each year.

They're fine crystal and very pretty.
My friend gave me one... no two..2006 and 07.

I didn't know they were valuable.
Since mine are from a friend i wouldn't sell it.... i don't think.
Hmmmm... just how much do they go for.... now i'm curious...

Seeya, Mou. gotta go look for Celeste.

    That IS an awesome clock.

  18. cool, Cam! i know it's a long shot, specially with shipping,

    here is the ornament:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-SWAROVSKI-CHRISTMAS-ORNAMENT-2008-NEW-IN-BOX_W0QQitemZ320336099733QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDecorative_Collectibles?hash=item320336099733&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

it's important that they are new, the box has never been opened and that the certificate and booklet are included.

my collection of these goes back to 1996. after they are retired several years, they double in value. the first one was issued in 1991. this one would set you back at least $1k to procure.

i have a crystal Christmas tree and each year i add something to it. since '96, it has been the annual Swarovski. i didn't get one this year because Costco was selling them for $40 ($52ttl w/ shipping and tax) and i thought with the economy that after the holiday i might be able to pick one up for $40 w/ shipping, but so far that opportunity hasn't come up on ebay.

i swear ebay is full of scammers with regards to these ornaments. i see many of the buyers and sellers are e...e or d....m identifications. i think the sellers have numerous id's and bid the price up of their own goods!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Rats!!!

Of course i've opened mine... I put them on the tree every year...
i may even have thrown out the boxes!!!

MANNNN... i always miss the good stuff.

    *pout*

    ReplyDelete
  20. I open mine each year, but very carefully.

You threw out the beautiful blue boxes?! OH JEN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I know, C.... sigh...

I get worse each Christmas, trying to streamline the unpacking and repacking process. I got one of those big segmented ornament boxes and wrap everything in tissue paper to pack away... it's quicker.

And by the way, Ms. SneakyOne... you're opening carefully so as to make it appear UNopened when you go to sell them.... hmmmmmm...

    Sounds shady to me, LMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wait!!!

    Hol' up!

    NEWS ALERT!

    Procrastination has its benefits!!!

I remembered that the year i got the new ornament box, it was after the tree was up and i repacked into the new box, leaving the old box still in the attic. I was going to go through that eventually and get rid of it. Never got around to it though...WOO HOO!!!

I just found the lil blue boxes!

    YAAY!!!!!!!!

going to CAREFULLY repack the crystals in them and put them away.
They're from 2004... How do i find out when it's retired?

I better put them somewhere secure...

    and that i'll remember ...
that'll be the hard part... this house eats things... it DOES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. i am always overjoyed when i'm good for something! YAY!!!

they are retired even before Christmas of the same year. there are a limited number of them produced each year and poof...gone.

    looky here:

the '04 still has over a day to go and it's value is up to $102 already with 13 bids! i am SO glad the house wasn't hungry!

    ReplyDelete
  24. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

    You're the BEST, C!

In a whole lot of things!

    ReplyDelete
  25. BTW ...

    Morning, Mou!

On my way out to see the movie Milk.
It's supposed to be great and it's finally showing at a theatre near our house.

    Seeya later.

    I love you!
