Jessie Day is the son of my customer/friends on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. He has been studying martial arts all his life. He is also a rap musician and has just recently signed a contract with a recording company.
He is heading out to Beijing to "make his fortune" very soon and belongs to a group of musicians called M.A.R.S., or Musicians Against RaciSm.
This is his second independent video that he has starred in and produced by himself.
If you haven't guessed, he's the guy in black.
And this is also his music.
I'm pretty impressed by the production quality of this video, and I think Jose will be, too (but it's not 1.5minutes long... but that's because it's a movie!)
Enjoy!

You can see his first video, "Path of the Warrior", here:
ReplyDeleteThe music is Jessie's music, and that's him singing.
Good for him! Obviously a very motivated young dude. Best of luck to him!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt. I wonder what he's thinking now with respect to belonging to MARS, heading to Beijing, and the ethnic cleansing that's going on in Tibet, while Beijing denies it and says that everything is back to order, but all foreign reporters are not allowed to enter and report on the actual happenings...
ReplyDelete:-) fun to watch
ReplyDeleteZen - I thought so. And the good thing about this is it doesn't look as ... corny as all those Chinese martial arts movies where they fly through the air like gods and goddesses with superpowers. You know... like the "Jumping Oliphaunt, Squeaking Prairie Chicken" hit (which I thought was really a good movie as far as Chinese Action Movies, go. It actually had a plot!)
ReplyDeleteI like the dust that "puffs" off the gi when they hit each other. That was kind of cool.
I think the puffs are to prove they actually are smacking each other, don'tcha think?
ReplyDeleteInteresting videos. Black and white is a good choice.
Robin - That didn't even occur to me and yet you, at stupid o'clock, with only one good eye.... no wonder you're a Goddess!
ReplyDeleteI can't view it right now, but will try when I get home....SIGH... DAMN computers! Love em...hate em...
