Today's String of NOW Moments

Daibutsu Line

I had a lunch meeting with Osaka-san today (Zeniya/Chocolate Fountain guy) but he called at 11:30 to say he was in the hospital with a swollen eye from a stye that came up in the night.

So...

I decided to go for a ride.

And it was an...

Awesome ride!

3:20hrs round trip from door to door

2000ft vertical elevation climbed (first 1500ft in 4miles, 1hr 7mins)

37km/22mi total distance logged

2 hardboiled eggs, 1 pack of german sausages (6pcs) consumed

1 pair of tuckered-out knees (which will probably keep me up all night).

Came home, ate some tuna.

Crashed on the chesterfield-ette for 45 minutes.

Got up.

Had a shower.

Ran the bath with onsen bathsalts.

Fell asleep in it for 1.5hrs...

I'm hoping I don't cramp at 4am like I usually do...

It was a great adventure!

I love you.

Cam

  2. Cool beans!
I just came in from the veggie garden where i finished getting everything in (except zucchini)... heirloom tomatoes, italian sauce tomatoes, eggplant, Jalapeno peppers, habanero peppers, annnnddd...

.... some cucumber, daikon, and large green onion seeds that somehow "mysteriously" appeared in my mailbox last year... hehehe...

We'll see how they do this year. The cukes were great last year... daikon so so... onion... never grew...

Oh well... like someone else i know, i like to experiment in the garden... see what the Universe brings!

  6. My knees aren't liking it yet, though. Gym muscles, and biking muscles are quite different, though I must admit that the leg presses, and deadlifts for the lower back really help keep those strong for riding. I guess I just need to ride more, build up the strength around the knees so that they can take off the strain to the knee joint. It will come in time.... though as I increase my riding for the good weather my gym body will decrease. Such is life. The wild boars probably don't give a shit.

  7. Try the stair stepper... that'll work the quads which in turn will stabilize the knees.

Or.. as you say, just continuing to ride ought to do it.

    Happy riding/gymming, Mou.

    I love you!

  13. It's interesting you know... because whenever I talk about pilates, people over in your part of the world talk about machinery and chairs. But over here, the pilates we do is all on mats on the floor. No machinery necessary. And the results you get from the pilates floorwork is phenomenal!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh it's that way here too...
Only the affluent use the machines as it's very expensive

Most of what's taught in gyms is mat Pilates.

But you know Americans.. those that have, must flaunt.
Think about Celeste's comments on my page.
That how it is with the reformer classes here. Reformers are the name of the machines.
And actually it IS the way Joseph Pilates introduced this phenomenal work.

He developed it for the sick and hospital bound, attaching a system of springs and pulleys to patient beds to aid in them getting exercise.

The machines in gyms are extremely expensive so gyms typically charge LOTS of money for those classes.

And the machine Linda talks about is an adaptation... not an actual Pilates machine.
