Seeking Reliable, Safe, Cheap etc... Lodgings in San Francisco

Hi!

I need your help, cuz expedia, etc. doesn't do the job. Online searches don't provide reliability so looking on the net is not an option...

My partner at work asked me to help her find a hotel in San Fancisco for her husband with the following conditions:

* Long Stay (2-3 weeks at a time)
* Opportunity to return regularly on business (i.e. preferred client status perks)
* Within walking distance to Union Square
* Low Price
* Safe
* Clean and comfortable
* Food not necessary

Kyoko's husband goes to SF regularly and has the need to get a new base of operations but because the business is mostly sales-related travel for his custom product (see www.magicboxincusa.com) it needs to be low-cost operations (thus the price requirement above).

Can you or anyone you know living and/or working in the region help out with some direct experience and suggestions? Simply checking on the net doesn't really provide rliable info and in this case using a network of friends around the globe actually provides better, more trustworthy results.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

I love you!
Cam

  1. Have you checked into Extended Stay Hotels or Residence Inns...
    Hmmm... not sure if they're in walking distance as usually they are in the burbs .

    Lemme do a quick search directly... BRB!

  2. Neither is in the city, Mou.

    as with NYC, the hotels right in downtown are pretty expensive.

    He might look into temporary housing.
    Or .... i can't believe i'm saying this... Craig's list.

  3. Thanks Jen. We are looking for people we know and can trust with recommendations rather than online searches in this case. Who knows what might happen if we just go by online info? He might end up in one of those places that offer massages by asian women! Hmmmm.... Craig's List eh? Hmmmm... Asian female "massage therapists"...

  4. I only searched online for the locations.
    I have stayed in a Residence Inn a few times and Greg has stayed in Extended Stay hotel.

    They are both reputable companies.
    Residence Inns are part of the Marriott chain... one of the best.

    Good luck though trying to find a clean affordable place like that right in the city. It was impossible here in NYC when Sheila came to see her daughter in the hospital, which is why i told her to just stay with me.
    But that turned out fantastic!

    Maybe you'll find someone with an apartment or room he can stay.
