Sweet Dreams Delivery Service

Today was a work day. Yes. I had work. Amazing, that there was actually something for me to do... these days, thanks to the sub-prime, and wall street collapse, work has been... scarce ... is a kind word. But today I went to a customer's business in Sabae and did some interpretation work as a very large American pharmaceutical company is planning on having a part made in their factory and wanted to do an ISO9000 audit inspection.

I think that things went fairly well, and it helped my client to become a little more global than before. They were given some observations, and suggestions on how they need to improve their ISO processes in order to meet the customer's rigid specifications for document control (that is what ISO 9000 is all about). It was an 8am to 8pm day, and I was glad to get out.

I have two videos that I plan to be making in the very near future. One... is a secret so I'll let that one be because it would spoil the fun. The other one... I think I can tell you a bit about.

I have a few videos on doing various things with futon. One describes the importance of drying out the futon as often as possible rather than letting it sit on the floor as one would a mattress. Because there is no airspace between the futon and the floor, they can get mouldy in a short matter of time. If you haven't seen this video yet, you may visit it @ Japanese Traditions: Futon Hoshi.

The other video is called No More Lonely Nights, and in that one, I introduce the futon kansoki that I sent to Jenny. She loves it as it keeps her bed toasty warm whenever she is alone on those long winter nights.

I have received a variety of comments on the Futon Hoshi video. One of them is a bit of correspondence from a Canadian Lad looking for information on how to care for the futon. Actually he wants one, but is having trouble getting them. He has found some manufacturers in the USA but the cross-border taxes make them more costly than his budget will allow. After a bit of talking, with him and with Mayu, she and I agreed that we would be more than happy to ship him one or two of our futon if he would cover the shipping, and the paypal surcharges to receive the payment. He agreed so in the next few days I am going to try to figure out how to pack a futon, and then determine what the costs will be, and let him know.

We have three or four futon and rarely use all of them. Of course we need to keep a couple here for when people come to visit, but we do not need them all. The gentleman was more than happy to accept one of our used futon.

So I thought I would just make a simple video documenting what I am doing, and tell the story so that others out there can once again see the Globalized Love Community hard at work making other people's lives even happier!

And that is what I am thinking this night as I sit here sipping hot water and slowly get a little more sleepy as the hours pass (did a heavy workout last night and then was up at 6:00 so my body is rather fatigued still...)

I hope you have a great day, whether it be sunny, rainy, snowy, windy, cloudy, morning, afternoon, evening or night!

I love you!

Cam

  5. Here in the US futons never sit ON the floor. They have frames that usually raise them at leas six inches off the floor and allow it to be folded and sat upon like a sofa.

Some of the designs have become quite elaborate pieces of design furniture.
I'm thinking of replacing the sleeper sofa in my studio with a futon, but these newer large frames, while beautiful are so big it's defeating my purpose which was to streamline the furniture.

The room still acts as a guest room and i need a comfortable sleeping place.

    Back to the drawing board...

  6. And... those futon are also NOT real Japanese futon... They are about 3X the thickness of the true Japanese futon. I know because we bought one when we lived there. And when you look at the ones that double as couches, etc. you can see they are completely different.

    ReplyDelete
  7. They are very beautiful today however with frames in a variety of styles and wood finishes.

My friends have a Mission Style set... it's gorgeous, and very comfortable... but no.. not an authentic futon.

We're built for comfort over here... not many folks like sleeping on the floor.

  8. lol the ones i slept on were I think they were very old and not well maintained..made in camden england but i am talking about 1976 here..so lol..hugs...thanks lov ethepicture can i have copy to use in my blog somtime ill say its a cam original?

  9. Jen - When we were living in Winnipeg, my dad built a simple slatted frame that folded up into a couch shape. It was great. He did a fantastic job. Eventually they sold the futon and the wooden frame for very little but someone now has it. And it didn't have any arm rests so It was much easier to use than some of those elaborate ones you mention.

  10. I don't like sleeping on the floor because of the Brown Recluse Spiders that march across the hard wood floor looking for a warm place to snuggle in. They bite. They're poisonous. Nuff said.

I have one of those bed heaters... his name is Scott.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Stefnee - Yes, yes, I understand. I hear Scott is one of those 500,000,000 BTU furnaces!

    ReplyDelete
  12. MMMMMMM.....

    Luv my futon kansoki!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's addicting though... i don't use it to warm the bed before i get in...

That baby is fired up all night long.....

    Men...FEH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ooooo... no spiders here, but huge millipedes...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Make it cranberry... with extra nuts... hehehe...

Just playin... been meanin to ask if anyone else has used it....

    It's CRISCO!!!

Use it on my feet and legs mainly... they're like new now! I was SO dry... now my skin is even lighter in tone... it's cool!

But it's not too weird is it?

There's no smell... but i added lavender essential oil since i use it at bedtime.

    mmmmmm... relaxing....

    ReplyDelete
  23. *blink blink*

    *checks pantry*

All I have is butter flavored Crisco.... think that's ok?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pipe down, Mou. You're a lousy negotiator.

more than corks... i want the goodies!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oooh... I wonder what butter-flavoured Crisco would feel like used as a massage cream?

    ReplyDelete
  26. NOOOOO....

    NOt the butter flavour!

    That's got stuff in it.
    Regular is pure veggie oil.

    ReplyDelete
  27. and you could add a bit of salt to me... and then pretend I'm a giant slab of cockporn! Oops. I mean popcorn!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Butter + lavender oil? That could work....

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's pretty good.

    I tried it on Nicki.

It's got a decent glide, but better for deep work.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good good. I'll place an order for one then the next time I'm in your neck.... of... your... woods....

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well maybe flavour might be a good idea in that case...

    ReplyDelete
  32. mmmmm...

now i crave popcorn... for brekkie?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm thinking... that stuff never comes OFF!

when you wake up in the morning... do you have to totally soap up to get it off?

My mom uses Bag Balm cream... udder cream for cows....

    ReplyDelete
  34. no! you have a shower with me after you have the massage from Jenny!

    ReplyDelete
  35. No... maybe because, as i said i'm real dry, but it soaked right in.. it melts so easily as you know from cooking.

It wasn't thick enough for my feet so i used it with those socky things ...

    No more hoofs for me!

    ReplyDelete
  36. *snort*

I'm thinking after a massage from Jenny.. I'd be to wobbly for a shower.

OH! I have a spa day on the 22nd with my BFF from HIgh School, massage, manicure, pedicure, reflexology and a facial..... *drool*

    ReplyDelete
  37. Awesome... make sure everyone tips well... sigh...

    Ohh!

    Exception!!!

yesterday this weird guy Peter gave me a $50 tip... woohoo!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, that's why it's an expensive adventure..

$10 - 15 would be ok in that case

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just put whatever you want in the little envelopes at the reception desk..
When you are leaving... you don't need to keep cash in your robe pocket like some people do

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd say $20 is average for the industry.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, most spas have small envelope at the desk for tips.

I love when clients write more than just my name on it.

I like the little notes like, "best massage ever" or "come home with me" hehehe...

you put a tip in each wit the name and leave it with the receptionist.

    ReplyDelete
  42. how about "go a little higher next time"?

    ReplyDelete
  43. They're real small... the size of a folded up bill

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know, I know... I'm real small... do you have to rub it in?

    ReplyDelete
  45. CAMERON....

And to think i was beginning to miss you...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Let me try this....

I'm so small that on the next season of "Lost" I'll have a cameo disappearance!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm getting LCN nails over my vacation...

    Ever hear of them, Stef?

It's tips with a permanent French

We just started them at the spa where i work (not my place).

I can get it done for just the tip and a $10 supplies fee.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cool.. you like it?

    I haven't had nails since 2000.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ooh! A tip job for $10! Wow! I'm definitely coming to the spa where you work next time I'm in your hood!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I got so excited there that multiply double dipped me!

    ReplyDelete
  51. CAM! Gah.. go take a shower, you!

Jenny.. I love them! I just had them redone last night..... I've had them regularly since.... hmm... well for 3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Heh!

That's how YOU'D get your tip...

    ReplyDelete
  53. You've had the same, with the fillins... for 3years???

    ReplyDelete
  54. nah.. she back fills... and takes them off and starts over....

    ReplyDelete
  55. But your natural nails have been ..."under wraps" (hehehe) for all that time?

    Is that good?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well, I think I shall go and hit the sack. It is after midnight and I am tired. I'll let you two carry on, and please DO take it to as many tangents as you like! I love sideways conversations here!Just love them! Night you! I LOVE YOU and I LOVE YOU!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Love you too, Mou.

    ReplyDelete
  58. :Love you, Steff...

    Later, Sweeties!

    ReplyDelete
  59. yeah.... they're fine. I take a break over the summer for a few weeks... and... yanno.... I plan on keeping them on, I bite my nails too much when they're off... so... I just keep them.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah.. sorta like my hair...
Mines so thin... i'lll be wearing the weave for the forseeable future.

    gotta fly...
    Smooches on both your faces!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love skin-so-soft and I can't sleep on the floor. lol

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey Cam, what's happening over here... getting tip jobs, butter flavored Crisco...
Then they leaving money in little envelopes at the front desk for tips.....hmmm Is it an illegal tranaction between them and a MAN.....lol. Just dropped by and what talk from two young ladies...
Sleeping on the floor sounds great....would it involve a tip job......LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Jalopy - You dog! I love it!!

Do you remember those cookies we would eat as kids? "Tips Ahoy!"

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yep, not to be confused with "Pimp Ahoys"......You know I can not think that fast on my feet; I know none of this will make sense, I should have thought about that for a day or two......lmao.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Well, it was an unusal conversation taking place, to many things to keep up with; I thought they had made a mistake and miss typed 'tip job' too......lol Since it was between two ladies.....

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not at all, not at all. Tip jobs were but the tip of the iceberg, sir! It's what is submerged by 90% that you have to keep your eyes on!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Make sure to get all the cat hairs off the futons before you ship them. They can add extra weight!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Jim!

    I just LOVE you!!!!

OMG i can't believe how much alike you two are.

I just saw this same kind of comment , quick, sharp, wit left by your #1 on someone else's page.

I told hm the same thing over there...

    I just LOVE you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kristen - how about being naughty in a futon?

    ReplyDelete
  70. When I was staying in Kyoto those summers, we had those kinds of futon in your vid that you made. I was never naughty in a japanese futon, I may have been in the faux american ones that we have that you can also use as a couch.

I have one in the garage that we take to the beach along with several of those heavy moving blankets and some really large old throw pillows and some old chenille bedspreads, we we go at night in the fall or winter to make a big bonfire and make baked smores ( you pre-make them wrap then in tin foil and place they next to the fire, literally IN the fire,, but that for a another day)

I was never naughty on this futon mainly because we were in mixed company and or family and well you know but its comfy and when we just recently went to the beach at night my nephew loved the futon and blankets and pillows he wanted to spend the night

    ReplyDelete
  71. Kristen - That is pretty darn cool looking! I was worried that you might be trying to convince me to spin all of the natural fats out of my meats... I LIKE fat! It's GREASE, and OIL that I don't want from the deepfried stuff because the oil gets used over and over and over and it is turned by heat into transfats which we then consume. And that's a problem. Very cool looking machine, I must admit!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Think Jen is avoiding our conversation...... LOL.

Fat Meat on a Spin Cycle.......very interesting...... A dryer for your food; does it cook it as it spins out the fat....lol. Would they be located in the bathroom with the other dryer.....

    ReplyDelete
  73. In the business world, that would be known as "lean manufacturing".

    ReplyDelete
  74. Go read it the link and Jen has better things to do =)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Kristen - I did go and follow the link, read it all, looked at it in detail. That's why I made the comment I did!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I went to the link....just joking.

See Cam, not as good as you coming up with things........

    ReplyDelete
  77. I wonder how many futon she has... because futon is futon is futon whether it is singular, or plural....

    ReplyDelete
  78. She has one, but it has seen alot of action its an american futon like mattress not those japanese fold them in half futon's

    ReplyDelete
