Newsworthy Newslines

I thought you would be interested in this story: Bevy Of Billionaires Vow To Give Half Their Wealth
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=128980429&sc=emaf

Now THIS is the kind of news I like to see. All the death and destruction, the negativity, the bad vibes, and the suffering that news media loves to show us (because we crave personal suffering it seems) is really of little value. To post something TRULY NEWSWORTHY like this article on philanthropy, on giving, on supporting... an article describing people who truly WANT to make a difference in the world and plan to actually DO so ... THIS is what I. call. news.

I love you!

  3. ::All the death and destruction, the negativity, the bad vibes, and the suffering that news media loves to show us (because we crave personal suffering it seems) is really of little value.::

But how would we know who needs the help each of us is capable of giving in our own way if not for the news?

I don't have millions or billions to give, but i have my own words (letters to lawmakers and/or editors and blogs) that can raise awareness of need.... and change it.

If there is suffering at the hand of another i am obligated to TRY and stop it.
(see my latest post re gay marriage)

If there is hunger and want, i am obligated to try and help out.
(thousands of students, including my Colin, helped out in NOLA after Katrina)

But we have to know about it first.

    Just sayin....

  4. That news, however IS fucking awesome!

It's all about balance.... yin/yang... karma...

    *breathing*...
    *loving*
    *caring*

  5. Great. Really.

However, don`t you think having $44 BILLION is absolutely obscene?

`` Buffett decided in 2006 to give 99 percent of his fortune to charity. Then, he was worth about $44 billion. ``

    Just saying. * shrug *

  6. Steve - I agree. Obscene, but they worked their asses off to get it.

Jen - The AMOUNT of negative energy out there is what feeds on the negativity, expanding the crime, the death, the destruction, the wars, the gay marriage bashings, and so on. Just imagine a world that didn't have all that negative energy... a world fulfilled with the opposites....

Steve would be out of a job!

  7. I don't know....

Sounds like a chicken or egg thing.
Is it our negative energy that causes negativity to increase or the negative behaviour (which MUST be stopped) that triggers the negative energy?

Steve could go up to the bad guys and wish them a pleasant day, but i'm doubtful that would change their behaviour... in the short term.

But what Steve DOES do is help with soccer (football) leagues for restless youth in an attempt to curtail the bad behaviour... in the long term.
He can tell you if or how well that works.

I just think it's a matter of balance, cuz that day you speak of... well...
It's a nice dream... something to work towards, while smacking down the negativity, swiftly and surely.
Otherwise they will take the advantage and.... win.

  8. At the risk of being a poopie pants, negative, naysayer, I can tell you it is way way way too late to stop the negative behaviour. I sometimes feel like King Canute standing on the edge of a vast ocean of boiling, steaming effluent exhorting it to turn around and go away.

    Can you feel the negative vibes ...................... ;~}

  9. In that case we`d all have $44 billion!

  10. Steve - I hear you play soccer with kids. That negates a HUGE amount of negative vibes, my friend. Keep up the great work and continue to spread the love.

  11. Actually a great number of incredibly wealthy people didn't work very hard at all, save for squeezing their way down the birth canal.

So much of the greatest wealth (at least in the US) is inherited wealth.
    Much like Paris'
