Here I have backed up all of the blogs I wrote on Multiply, over the years. They are old, and apparently the images do not get imported, but it was worth a try. Currently I cannot seem to see any posts, but in the Dashboard it says I have over 1200 posts imported here. It may take a while to get this working.

You Turkey!
I dont but tonight Ihad the sudden desire to experience Turkish dining for the first time in my life. So I did!
And you know what? Every single dish in the course I chose had flavours that I have never experienced in my entire life.
Delicious!
Wonderful!
Mysterious!
Flavourful!
Superb!
And this coffee is like no coffee I have ever enjoyed.
I can hardly wait until I make that trip to Istanbul in the near future.

Really? Your first experience?? The coffee is made very dark and delicious in a pot similar to are darling moka pots. In fact some call those Turkish pots. I love the way they blend spices, together in surprising twists... that is why I enjoy middle eastern food so darn much as well....

ReplyDeleteThere was a soup that I can't describe (made of beans?). Then there were five little scoops of appetizers that all had different undescribable tastes. Next a delicious hot, soft bread that was nutty and mysterious. Following that came chicken and beans in a sauce that I can't tell you what spices were used. The salad had a tart dressing with an oil base, but was soaked with exotic spices that made it even more delicious. Then came the kebob... three meats (chicken, lamb and beef???) all spiced as if they were cooked on the Silk Road. The dessert was two slightly sweet dollops of something delicious that had some nuts, coconuts, carrots... and was brown. A raspberry sauce was drizzled over this mysterious delicacy. The tea that was served was unique in itself, and the coffee again... had a smoky, woody, spicy flavour that I have never experienced.
Everything was exotically spiced, but nothing was spicy. I don't like spicy hot food so this was perfect!
Then came the "icing on the cake".
But that will have to wait until tomorrow!
You may ask, "Why suddenly Turkish food, Cam?" Well, yesterday in class I asked "which foreign country do you want to visit next?" When I told them I plan to visit Istanbul and see the Hagia Sophia among other ancient treasures, someone mentioned that there are three famous foods in the world: Italian, Chinese, and Turkish. I have eaten two of the three many times, but never Turkish cuisine. So I decided that I would enjoy the third as soon as possible.
And the seed was planted!

They use a lot of cinnamon in their meats, turmeric etc... the combo is amazing and savory. I LOVE the colors and the flavors.

Yes, I think so. And maybe soy beans.

ReplyDeleteThe first time I went to Morocco, the people I stayed with made me a veggie tagine { like a stew with couscous for those not sure}. It was all piled up on top of a lambs foot! Bless em, they didn't understand the concept of vegetarianism for then sake of it. They didn't have much money but were fantastically generous. { sorry, gone off topic slightly}
Not at all, Steve. Not at all. I write my stories so they can evoke memories, and nice feelings within people. That way, they bring back the memories, the memories get shared, and new conversations are born! How nice!
