Second Time on the Skates was Better than the First

Today I walked about 10 minutes to the park at a large intersection near home. And I practiced skating for about an hour. I even practiced falling. Many times. Forward. And once backward. On the same hip that still hurts three weeks later. Good thing I ordered some hip/bum/tailbone pad inner shorts!

It was fun and the sakura trees and the pet rabbit were great, too.

Third time lucky, ka na?

I love you!

  1. yeah..it's not the falling that hurts...it's the sudden stop at the end ;)

  2. One foot and then the other,.... and then the whirlwind waving in a vain attempt to regain balance.

A quick and speedy learning process,... and an even faster recovery time!!!!

  3. Well you'll master falling..... as well as skating it seems. LOL

I went horseback riding on Friday for the first time in a year, and we cantered (slow run, mostly bumpy) the whole 2 hours. I couldn't get my balance right, mostly due to my hip and neck injuries from the car accident. But lets just say that nearly the WHOLE ride I was trying frantically trying to recall just how to fall, if I knew I was going.... there is an art to it. The only problem is... I didn't just have to worry about how to fall but WHERE to fall, as the desert here has mostly very sharp and pointy plants that would have made the fall seem like nothing compared to the picking out barbs..... thankfully I didn't fall, but man was I sore in my neck, and hip from the experience. The things we do for our kids.... against our better judgment sometimes.

So learning to fall is good too...

  6. I can't see the video here argh! I will hope over to your YouTube channel in a minute to see if that works.

Dunno if it'll help, but you can google derby falls to get your body used to falling on purpose. One knee falls, two knee falls, even some base ball slides, baby! Or my favorite, the 180 knee fall, where you skid on one knee and spin around so you wind up facing the opposite direction. If nothing else, it makes you look like you MEANT to wibble wobble around when you feel, eh? ;o) I never ever thought I'd be ok with falling down - but derby's helped with that!

Hope that you had a great skate!!!! Spring skating sounds like a blast - as long as there isn't TOO much pollen!

    Sugoi and stuff! *HUGS!*

    (hope I used that correctly!)
