Confusing "Timely" Updates

3/17 9:49am At Just after 9am on Thursday March 17th, the police were preparing to use specialized police water trucks (cam: water cannons regularly used to disperse demonstrators??) to spray water into a hole in #3 reactor of the Fukushima Dai Ichi nuclear plant.

3/17 9:48 BUT... at 9:48 the news says that the SDF have started to drop water down the holes in the same reactor.

And then earlier news said that the SDF gave up the helicopter idea because it seemed too technically difficult and that the success rate was low.

So as you can see, news is coming in minute by minute but it is also changing... no sense trying to give a play-by-play show...

My boss just arrived and brought batteries from Osaka because apparently you can't buy batteries in Tokyo now as everyone is stockpiling them.

  1. It just showed them trying to drop water into the reacters. They were doing it from too high. Too much radiation lower down, I suspect.

  4. Just went through ALL the posts on your blog - I do think that your impressions about the dangerous levels of Radiation are very valid - and perhaps the reporters have been rather amiss - but they get their feedback from the public on the spot - none of whom are experts on this esoteric subject - the poor quality of the reporting perhaps should be the area of the Editor of the Newspapers there - they need to edit it technically when there is an event related to Nuclear fissions or fusion etc - I think that the reporters in India have been doing a reasonably good job because they have not so far published startling data that has not been carefully vetted I think - and the TV Channels are continuously on the subject .. LETS PRAY THAT THE DEBACLE IS CONTAINED AND THEY MANAGE TO STOP THE RADIATION
Nice effort by you on the subject of the day
