Here I have backed up all of the blogs I wrote on Multiply, over the years. They are old, and apparently the images do not get imported, but it was worth a try. Currently I cannot seem to see any posts, but in the Dashboard it says I have over 1200 posts imported here. It may take a while to get this working.

Over 30K people have been evacuated from the 3 prefectures affected by the earthquake&tsunami. That's a LOT of blankets for UniQlo to donate.
susan i will have to check our account next month and see what we can afford.... on another note ;) we're set up out here at the family tree farm to be able to carry about 30 people in an emergency...and if everybody pitched in on the garden, hunting and gathering~we wouldn't starve either
lot's of country folks here in the states put extra stuff in place during the cold war~just in case...but it's a good idea anyplace~you just never know what you may get hit with
I think that's a big part of the reason they're yanking so many Americans out of Japan (military wise) So many resources are needed, and those 80K they're removing can make a big difference in what the military can do to help and in what supplies are used for the Japanese instead of Americans.
I know NAF Atsugi has sent hundreds of blankets and packs of diapers (which amusingly aren't as good as typical Japanese diapers, so they maaaay not be so grateful for those) and water and canned goods (again a lot of Americany ones.... sorry for their digestive systems :o/ ) and clothes...
It's so hard when there's literally only so much you can do.
call me odd but i don't like to hunt...could if i had to~but i'd probably puke if i had to gut a deer. i'll shoot the occasional groundhog, possum,or raccoon(we killed off their natural predators) if they're trying to eat from my garden...and leave them for the buzzards :| eating beef that has led a protected life of leisure seems more fair to me somehow.
there are 43 head of deer in the local herd(at last count yesterday coming home) and 30 turkeys in the local flock(more or less) etc...i could do the list suffice to say i taught my daughter the hunter, gatherer, farmer skill sets very young....it's good backup knowledge ;)
This is exactly what my dad did for me, I like you prefer not to have to hunt, but in a pinch I know how. I also know what I can and can not eat, or what I should or should not do in the woods. My mother taught me gardening skills... so all in all a well rounded education of "sorts". They are in essence basic survival skills... that everyone should know.

If I had to make my own bacon I'd wind up as a vegetarian. And that would be sad.

we were looking to draw down in japan anyways as the WW 2 dynamics fade out and they re~start their own military force
ReplyDeletethis was a good time...
we'll still have their back with naval presence ;)
ReplyDeleteAgreed - I think also that the US wanted to see exactly what a major extraction of a small city would require.
ReplyDeleteInteresting times....
